Sponsored by the «Cooperative Ocean/Atmosphere Research Data Service «, a NOAA/university cooperative for the sharing and distribution of global atmospheric and oceanographic research data sets. This standard is a set of conventions adopted in order to promote the interchange and sharing of files created with the netCDF Application Programmer Interface (API).
  11. https://hdf.ncsa.uiuc.edu # Information, Support, and Software from the Hierarchical Data Format (HDF) Group of NCSA. The HDF project involves the development and support of software and file formats for scientific data management. The HDF software includes I/O libraries and tools for analyzing, visualizing, and converting scientific data. There are two HDF formats, the original HDF (4.x and previous releases) and HDF5, which is a completely new format and library. HDF (4) includes C, Fortran, and Java calling interfaces, and utilities for analyzing, visualizing, and converting HDF data files. HDF5 includes a C interface and utilities for analyzing HDF5 files. The development of HDF5 was motivated by a number of limitations of the HDF (4) library. HDF5 is NOT compatible with HDF (4), but we are currently working on conversion routines for converting HDF5 objects into HDF (4) objects and vice-versa. The HDF software is developed and supported by NCSA and is freely available. It is used world-wide in many fields, including Environmental Science, Neutron Scattering, Non-Destructive Testing, and Aerospace, to name a few. Scientific projects that use HDF include NASA’s Mission to Planet Earth, and the DOE’s Accelerated Strategic Computing Initiative.

  25. https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf # NetCDF (network Common Data Form) is an interface for array-oriented data access and a library that provides an implementation of the interface. The netCDF library also defines a machine-independent format for representing scientific data. Together, the interface, library, and format support the creation, access, and sharing of scientific data. The netCDF software was developed at the Unidata Program Center in Boulder, Colorado. The freely available source can be obtained as a compressed tar file or a zip file from Unidata or from other mirror sites.
